If Jesus has died for your sins and you’re going to heaven when you die,
If you’ve been given a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26-27) and therefore the rudder of your soul is now stuck on wanting what God wants,
If the Holy Spirit dwells within you, empowers you, and leads you to the truth…
Then what’s your problem?
- I still have to live day-to-day in this pre-heaven life and I don’t know how exactly.
- My “flesh” (how I cope with life in my own power) is still present and easily tempted.
- The “three-fold enemy” (Satan, the world system, and indwelling sin) is messing with me all the time.
- Even Christians are telling me to do and believe unbiblical stuff.
Okay, but has God provided you with adequate directions for how to go about living your pre-heaven life?
Yes, he says he has. See 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:3-4, Ephesians 4:15 and 6:10-18, 2 Timothy 2:15, Titus 2:11-12, Hebrews 10:25, and Colossians 3:16 for starters. God has filled us with his Spirit and provided us with his Word and his church, thus equipping us adequately for living life in a way that is pleasing to him.
Therefore, I need to study the Bible in the power of the Spirit in order to know what God says about how to live this pre-heaven life. Also, regular exposure to God’s people and the faithful preaching of God’s Word will help me a lot too.
Now be a Berean (Acts 17:11) and look up those Scriptures referenced above!
