You’ve seen and heard those commercials – body sculpting through plastic surgery (i.e., liposuction) or “cool sculpting,” herbal supplements and fiber wafers guaranteed to reduce hunger and give you that “full feeling,” and all the diet plans. (My favorite is the one that claims to work now way better than their previous plan. Too bad for all of you who used to be on the old plan!) There’s a ton of pressure on women, especially during “bathing suit season,” to look slim and toned.
It’s disgusting and maddening! And it’s an attack on women from the accuser.
Just think about it for a minute. WHO said you had to look a particular way to be considered attractive? Certainly not God. WHO set up the standard of thinness that even Christians have bought into enough to actually consider it “godly.” And WHO wants you to hate your own body?!
Well, it can’t be God. Look at 1 Samuel 16:7. God’s not judging you by your body type or size.
Do you really want to fall for a lie from the “father of lies,” who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy? Not only does Satan lie about how you “should” look, but he also offers up a lie about how to make yourself look that way! (Check out Romans 7:7-8 versus Titus 2:11-12.)
Before you get down on yourself for how you look, ask God what his priorities are for you at this moment. When you look through the Bible, you don’t see a lot of people being called upon to make their health and attractiveness a priority. When you seek first what is first, the other aspects of your life fall better into place (Matthew 6:33).
